The cover is woven from a blended cashmere, silk, and viscose ticking — a combination chosen because cashmere traps warmth in cool conditions while silk and viscose allow moisture to move away from the body, keeping the sleep surface neither clammy nor cold. Beneath that cover, the fillings work in descending layers of refinement and resilience: blended British fleece wool and cotton open the upholstery sequence, providing a compressible base that accepts and distributes weight evenly; hand-teased Austrian Moosburger® horsetail follows, its natural crimp giving it a springback quality that resists permanent compression over years of use; Real Shetland Wool and cash-hair sit next, adding insulation and a finer-fibered softness; a second layer of blended British fleece wool, cotton, cashmere, and silk closes the upholstery before the spring core begins. Two layers of hand-nested Vanadium steel calico pocket springs — 2,856 in a King size — respond to movement independently, so a shift on one side of the bed does not register on the other. Three rows of hand side-stitching secure the border, keeping the edge firm and the filling profile consistent across the full sleeping surface; hand-tied woollen tufts anchor the upholstery layers at regular intervals throughout, preventing settlement and maintaining the depth of feel the mattress has on the first night it is slept on.
